Dumitru Matcovschi (born October 20, 1939 in Vadul-Raşcov ; † June 26, 2013 ) was a Moldovan writer and member of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences . He was the founder of the Popular Front of Moldova ( Romanian : Frontul Popular din Moldova ).

Live and act

Dumitru Matcovschi was born on October 20, 1939 as the son of Leonte and Eudochia Matcovschi in Vadul-Raşcov, which was then still in the Kingdom of Romania . He graduated from the State University of Moldova in 1961. Dumitru Matcovschi was the founder of the Democratic Movement of Moldova and the Popular Front of Moldova.

Matcovschi died on June 26, 2013 after an operation twelve days earlier to remove a brain tumor.
