The Dumlu Dağı is a 3169 m high mountain in the Turkish province of Erzurum and is located north of the city of Erzurum . The mountain is part of the Mescit-Dağı massif . The northernmost source river of the Euphrates , the Karasu , has its source at Dumlu Dağı .

The Dumlu Dağı is an extinct Stratovolcano , the geothermal energy has. The mountain lies in the collision zone between the Arab and Eurasian plates .

fauna and Flora

The flora found at Dumlu Dağı is predominantly comparable to the flora found in Iran and less comparable to the flora found in the Mediterranean or the Black Sea . In 1990, a new species of bumblebee was first detected on the mountain . It is Bombus erzurumensis , which is endemic in north- east Anatolia and neighboring Iran and occurs there in higher mountain regions.

tourism

Together with the Palandöken , the Dumlu is a popular destination for mountaineers in the Erzurum region .
