The Mescit Dağı is a 3239 m high mountain in northeastern Turkey .
The Mescit Dağı is located 50 km north of the provincial capital Erzurum in the province of the same name . The mountain is the highest peak in the Mescit Dağları massif . This forms the headwaters of the Çoruh , which rises on its southwest flank. The mountain slopes to the north and east belong to the catchment area of the Tortum Çayı , which is part of the Çoruh river system. The Serçeme Çayı drains the mountain range south to the Karasu source of the Euphrates . The mountain is thus on the watershed between the Black Sea and the Persian Gulf .
