Dunaújváros FC was a football club from the central Hungarian town of Dunaújváros which was founded in 1952 as Sztálinvárosi Vasmű Építők . Just a year later, the then Stalinstadters were accepted into the first division, but were immediately relegated. In the following years further ascents and descents alternated. As Dunaferr SE , the club won the Hungarian championship in 2000 .

history

As Dunaújvárosi Kohász SE , the club reached its 7th place in 1978, its best placement in the first division. But great successes were not achieved until the later 1990s.

After the rise in 1998 to the first division, the Hungarian National Championship , the club won the championship in 2000. The following season the team was from Dunaújváros again for the runner and the move to the Cup final succeed, subject to there but the Újpest FC from Budapest.

In 2003, the club rose again after a total of 20 years of play in the Nemzeti Bajnokság, with which the previous main and name sponsor, the steel company Dunaferr , ended the cooperation. The association was just about to be dissolved. The Italian businessman Piero Pini, who previously owned Budapest Honvéd FC , took over and consolidated the club. As Dunaújváros FC , the club then played with varying success in the second division, the Nemzeti Bajnokság II , until it was dissolved in 2009.

Name changes

At this club not only the club name changed with the usual frequency in Hungary. The name of the town Dunaújváros ( Danube town ) was also Sztálinváros ( Stalin town ) from 1951 to 1961 .
