Dusheti ( Georgia დუშეთი , dʊʃɛtʰɪ ) is a Georgian town in the region of Mtskheta-Mtianeti .
Duscheti is the capital of the district of the same name. The city is 33 kilometers north of Mtskheta on both sides of the Dushetishevi River . The city has 6167 inhabitants (2014). It has existed since 1215. In the 17th century, Dusheti was a residence of the feudal lord Aragwis Eristawi . In 1801, Duscheti was granted (Russian) city rights. In 1802 it became the seat of Ujesds Duscheti (Georgian Duschetis masra ) within the Tbilisi Governorate .
