Dut-Dut-Duah! is the first CD by the Cologne band Wise Guys . It was released in November 1994. Since the group did not have a large budget at the time, the album was recorded within a weekend in a basement in Cologne's Südstadt.
About two-thirds of the CD contains cover versions of songs by other musicians (including three Beatles songs); the proportion of original compositions only increased gradually with the following albums. The self-written songs on Dut-Dut-Duah! mostly represent joint compositions by Daniel (Dän) Dickopf and Edzard (Eddi) Hüneke and are, with two exceptions, in English. This also applies to the Wise Guys' first self-written a cappella piece, “Little sweet loving girl” .
In this respect, the album is atypical for the later style of the band, which is characterized by German-language songs by Daniel (Dän) Dickopf. It is also the only album by the Wise Guys in which founding member Christoph Tettinger sings the bass . Due to time constraints, he left his place in the group to Ferenc Husta the following year.
Like the various successors, the CD is an a cappella album; only three songs are accompanied by guitar . Some of the songs show the band's Cologne origins in text and dialect.
