Where the pepper grows is the eighth album by the German-speaking a cappella group Wise Guys . After its release in November 2004, it did not climb as high in the charts as its predecessor Klartext . Like the previous albums, it was created in collaboration with producer Uwe Baltrusch and Pavement Sound Studio. In January 2011, a good six years after the CD was released, the Wise Guys received the gold record for 100,000 records sold.

background

Between the summer of 2003 and the spring of 2004, an album was created that, like the others, manages without any instruments and remains musically true to the style of the five Cologne-based artists. However, it also includes individual musical experiments, such as “ Before ”, which is actually a rap . In terms of content, the group itself describes the album as “a step towards greater seriousness”.

With the exception of the hidden track , the titles are all penned by Daniel Dickopf and Edzard Hüneke. Compared to previous releases, this album contains a selection of the best songs of the time. According to the band, they could have drawn on the full, as they would not have suffered from the lack of songs that is otherwise common.

The disc contains a cover version of the track " Chocolate Chip Cookies ", which was already heard on Klartext , but in English. There is also a music video for the title Earlier , a live recording of Ohrwurm from the Munich Philharmonic and a hidden track by Bodo Wartke .
