Dwarda is a community in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia . It is located eleven kilometers south of the district capital, Wandering , along the Hotham River .

history

The name is an abbreviation of the name of the nearby Dwardadine Creek. "Dwarda" is the word for dingo in the Noongar language . The site was first planned by the Wandering Road Board in 1912 . It was the terminus of the Hotham Valley Railway from 1913 to 1926 . The community, initially called "Dampier", was renamed Dwarda in 1914. The community attracted few residents. Between 1940 and 1941 a sawmill was built by JC "Charlie" Tucak. She operated for a few years.

Today the place is abandoned, but there are farms and a small mill that operate in the area.
