The Dyn is the CGS unit of power ( ancient Greek δύναμις dýnamis ).
One dyn corresponds to the force that is necessary to accelerate a mass of 1 g with 1 cm / s 2 :
The Dyn was agreed as a unit of force in 1873 and was the first internationally binding unit of force at all. Since January 1st, 1978 it has been replaced by the SI unit Newton in the context of legal units .
