EP Warren Praelector
The EP Warren Praelectorship is an endowed professorship in the field of Greek studies at Corpus Christi College , Oxford . It goes back to the legacy of the American Edward Perry Warren (1860–1928), a collector of ancient art. Due to legal problems, however, the position could not be filled until 1954. Originally, the legacy had strict conditions attached to it. The EP Warren Praelector had to be available to his students at all times and to live in college for that purpose, and he was not allowed to teach women. However, apart from the teaching obligation, these conditions were completely lifted in the late 1980s.
