The EA01 locomotive is an electric battery locomotive that operates on the Dresden Park Railway .

history

The electric locomotive was built in 1961 and 1962 in the Dresden Reichsbahn repair shop of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR . In contrast to many Liliput locomotives, it was not built as a scaled-down version of a standard-gauge locomotive, but designed specifically for its purpose on a narrow-gauge Liliput railway .

After its completion, the locomotive was handed over to the then pioneer railway Dresden in 1962 together with wagons for a third train .

Originally the vehicle was equipped with two driver's cabs in order to be able to drive flexibly in both directions. However, one of the two was dismantled after a short time, as it was not needed for the Dresden Park Railway. The space was later filled with additional, originally not built-in and more modern technology.

The locomotive is still in use today on the Dresden Park Railway in the Great Garden .

technology

drive

The locomotive's electric motors are attached directly to the bogies so that each axle is driven directly. The motors receive electricity from two battery units with a total weight of 3.4 t. These are charged in the locomotive shed outside of operating hours so that they can provide enough energy for the entire day of operation.

Brakes

The locomotive has two air brakes - one of which is electrically controlled - which also control the brakes of the car, an additional air brake and a handbrake .

Further technical equipment

The locomotive's signaling devices include a whistle and bell . It also has a sanding device and a wheel flange lubrication system .
