EMV-PROFI (Purchasing and Marketing Association) is a German purchasing and marketing cooperation of legally independent hardware stores , wood and building supplies stores and garden centers . It was founded in 1997 by 37 members of EK Großeinkauf (today EK / servicegroup ), because they did not agree to the establishment of ZEUS . To this day, this has led to the fact that the Baufuchs DIY stores initiated by EK can be assigned partly to Zeus and partly to EMV. The first managing director of EMV was Peter Lang, who was previously managing director of the EK subsidiary DIY Zentraleinkauf for 13 years .
In terms of external sales, the group of companies is the seventh-largest retailer in the German Do-It-Yourself industry (as of 2007, source: trade journal “diy”, Dähne-Verlag). Seat system headquarters is located in North Rhine-Westphalia.
As of the 3rd quarter of 2015, the EMV-Profi-Group belonged to 375 companies, including numerous Raiffeisen stores, with a total sales area of 467,000 m² and external sales totaling 773 million euros. The association is supplied by over 1000 suppliers and cooperates with other associations ( Landfuxx - also joined EMV-Profi as a limited partner; Celo ; Baustoffring and Holzring ). The group is a member of the BHB , ZGV and VDG industry associations .
The association bundles the purchases for the shareholders and develops sales systems and product ranges itself. In addition to the range of purchased goods, EMV-Profi offers system partners various services (e.g. marketing support, inventory management system, central settlement ). In the POS connected to it, EMV-Profi has several proprietary brands in addition to manufacturer brands (“Profi Bauen”, “Profi Farben”, “Profi Garten” and, in the entry-level price range, “Spar Profi”).
Since autumn 2016, the cooperation EMV-PROFI and Baustoffring Förderungsgesellschaft has become BAUVISTA - the purchasing cooperation.
