ENAER
ENAER ( E mpresa N acional de Aer onáutica de Chile) is an aircraft manufacturer in Chile .
ENAER's roots go back to 1930, at that time under the name Maestranza Central de Aviación de la Fuerza Aérea Nacional . The main task was the maintenance of the state aircraft.
ENAER itself was founded on March 16, 1984 as part of the Chilean Air Force FACh . Despite its state origins, it works as an autonomous aircraft manufacturer. It is the only aircraft factory in Chile. The main tasks of ENAER are the development of its own military and civil aircraft types, the manufacture of aircraft parts and the maintenance of aircraft. She works closely with the Spanish aircraft manufacturer CASA .
Aircraft construction
ENAER has developed a number of its own aircraft and modified aircraft from third-party manufacturers:
- Enaer T-35 Pillán , a single-engine training aircraft
- Enaer Eaglet , a single-engine training and touring aircraft
- Enaer Pantera , jet fighter based on the Israeli IAI Kfir , a Mirage 50 variant
The Chilean Air Force replaced their old Beechcraft T-34 Mentor training aircraft with the more modern Enaer T-35 Pillán.
The Enaer T-35 Pillán is a very successful export model and is exported to many South and Central American countries. These countries include El Salvador , Guatemala , Panama , Paraguay and the Dominican Republic , and in Europe Spain . A number of countries have their machines serviced or modified by ENAER, for example the Uruguayan Air Force .
Cooperation with third-party manufacturers
Chile works closely with the Spanish and Israeli aviation industries. The Chilean Air Force uses a number of CASA types. ENAER manufactures parts of the CASA types Casa CN 235 and CASA C 295 . ENAER also manufactures parts for the Falcon 900 and 2000 aircraft from Dassault Aviation and ERJ-135/145 from Embraer , Brazil . ENAER is also one of the main suppliers of structures for the Eclipse 500 from Eclipse Aviation in the USA.
Spare parts are currently being manufactured for the Lockheed Martin's F-16 fighter jets and, under license, C-130 transporters are being overhauled and modernized in all areas.
For Israel, mainly F-5E Tiger II aircraft are being upgraded and serviced in the electronics area.
In the civil sector, ENAER maintains Boeing aircraft, mainly Boeing 737 aircraft .
In April 2008 the company signed a contract with the Italian manufacturer Alenia Aermacchi for joint production in South America. The Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master and M-311 aircraft will be manufactured by ENAER from 2012.
