The ESE World BV is an international manufacturer of containers for temporary storage of recyclable materials and waste , with headquarters in Maastricht . It emerged from the German Gebr. Otto KG in 2011 with the transfer of ownership and brand .

history

In 1934, six brothers founded the OTTO company and began manufacturing metal waste bins in bush huts in Siegerland . In 1950 Willi Otto produced the first ring garbage can made of steel and developed a new type of low-dust emptying bin . Shortly after the introduction of plastic as a raw material , Otto launched the first plastic bells with a volume between 35 and 110 liters on the market in 1964. The concept of the 240 liter two-wheel container, which is widely used today, was introduced to the German market by Otto in 1972 and the so-called DIN comb holder developed for its emptying - formerly an Otto patent - became a world standard.

In 1982, the first 1100-liter large waste container (MGB) with a sliding lid was produced in Germany using the world's largest plastic injection molding machine, which was commissioned for this purpose. New forms of two- and four-wheel containers in sizes from 60 to 1700 liters came onto the market in 1986 and depot containers manufactured using the rotary melting process in 1988. In 1990 OTTO Disposal Systems built additional production facilities in Neuruppin and Crissey (France).

In 1995 Gebr. Otto KG, as the Otto Group's holding company, recorded sales of DM 2 billion and had an international workforce of 8500. In 2005, the ESE Group was founded for the European business of the OTTO Group. Stirling Square Capital Partners and the ESE management took over the ESE Group from the Otto family in 2010. In 2011 the brand name changed from OTTO to ESE.

Today ESE World BV is part of the Berry Global Inc.

background

The company manufactures various disposal systems in its production facilities. These include two- and four-wheel plastic recycling bins, bins and waste paper baskets for public spaces, public furnishing, underfloor and semi-underfloor systems, depot containers, glass containers and hazardous goods systems. The company also offers logistics services such as the installation of container parks and the management of container data for municipalities and waste disposal companies.

ESE trades with the PWS brands in Scandinavia and MULTICOM in Italy.

ESE has branches and production facilities for plastics across Europe in Neuruppin, Germany, and Crissey, France. A steel production facility for waste paper baskets and hazardous goods containers is located in Wenden-Gerlingen, Germany.

The ESE Group is not only active in almost all European countries, but also in the USA, Asia and the Pacific region.

In its own plastics factories in Germany and France, ESE produces in a resource-saving manner and has completely closed the cycle for the plastic containers. The containers can be made from up to 100% recycled material and are completely recyclable at the end of their product life. In 2016, ESE was the first manufacturer to be awarded the recognized Blue Angel eco-label for the 2- and 4-wheel containers.
