Earl Hindman
Earl John Hindman (born October 20, 1942 in Bisbee , Arizona , † December 29, 2003 in Stamford , Connecticut ) was an American actor .
Hindman played the detective Bob Reid on Ryan's Hope for many years . He was also seen in 1974 as Mr. Brown in the film Stop the Death Ride of the Subway 123 . In 1983, Hindman starred alongside Johnny Cash in the feature film Murder in the Wrong District .
Hindman became known to a wide audience through his portrayal of Wilson Wilson Jr. in the US sitcom Listen, Who's Hammering . In the series, Hindman played the role of the neighbor of the Taylor family, who has a corresponding wisdom ready for every situation in everyday life. The unusual thing about this figure was that the face was never completely visible, but rather part of the face was always covered by something, often a fence. This dramaturgical idea was based on a childhood experience of Tim Allen , the inventor and leading actor of the series: As a child, he could never see the full face of his neighbor because he was still too small to look over the fence. Only in the last episode of Listen, Who's Hammering was Wilson's face fully visible when he and all the other actors bowed to the audience at the finale.
Hindman was married to Molly McGreevy and had two children. He died of lung cancer .
