Ebba Busch (born February 11, 1987 ), until 2020 Ebba Busch Thor , is a Swedish Christian Democratic politician. Since April 25, 2015, she has been the party leader of the Christian Democrats .

biography

Political career

In 2010 Ebba Busch got a part-time position as a councilor in Uppsala. In September 2013 she was elected to the party executive committee of the Christian Democrats. In the elections to the European Parliament in 2014, she was elected deputy to MEP Lars Adaktusson . Also in 2014 she was elected to the Uppsala community council. On April 25, 2015 she was elected as the successor to Göran Hägglund as party leader.

Political positioning

Ebba Busch's main topics are seniors, reducing bureaucracy and reducing taxes. In particular, she takes up the question of drawing the line between the influence of politics and the individual's right to determine. On abortion issues, she has discussed the problem of live fetal abortion. In a debate in Uppsala in 2009 she said: "I find it extremely difficult to regard abortion as a human right". In 2015, however, she stressed that she was behind the Swedish abortion regulations. In contrast to the official party line, it is in favor of the adoption right of single people and same-sex couples.
