Otto Roger (born July 31, 1841 in Rapperswil SG ; † August 8, 1915 in Augsburg ) was a German doctor, paleontologist and archaeologist who worked in Augsburg.

Roger's father Karl († 1877) lived in Augsburg since 1842 and was a teacher of French and English and since 1854 curator at the Maximilian Museum . Roger attended grammar school in Augsburg and, after studying medicine at the University of Erlangen, was a doctor in Northern Bavaria. From 1885 to 1887 (at that time as a district court doctor) he was back in Augsburg, then as a district medical advisor in Bayreuth and finally back in Augsburg from 1892. He was last there until his retirement in 1911. From 1911 he campaigned for the expansion of the sewer system in Augsburg.

From 1896 to 1915 he headed the Historical Association for Swabia and Neuburg in Augsburg and was active in the Natural Science Association for Swabia and Neuburg , from 1885 as its curator for paleontology, and he also donated his extensive beetle collection to him. He dealt particularly with fossil tertiary large mammals that were found in the Augsburg area and published a list of fossil mammals that was updated several times. In 1904 he first described Brachypotherium .

He also dealt with the archeology of Roman Augsburg ( Augusta Vindelicorum ), especially with the sigillates , and was instrumental in the re-establishment of the Maximilian Museum in Augsburg.
