Ebenhausen is a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Schäftlarn in the Munich district .

history

Ebenhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1130 under the name Emmenhusen. Until 2001, Ebenhausen was the seat of the Science and Politics Foundation (SWP), which has since resided in Berlin.

Social infrastructure

In Ebenhausen there is the Catholic Church of St. Benedict (built 1961–1965) and the Evangelical Church of the Savior, as well as a retirement and nursing home under the direction of the Inner Mission (formerly the Ebenhausen Sanatorium, founded in 1905 by Julian Marcuse ). The Ebenhausen Voluntary Fire Brigade provides fire protection and general help, especially at the local level.

Transport links

Ebenhausen is on the federal highway 11 , which runs from Munich to Innsbruck. It has its own S-Bahn station , on which the S7 runs, which connects Wolfratshausen, Munich and Kreuzstrasse. The station was set up for the historic Isar Valley Railway between Munich and Bichl.

economy

The Langewiesche-Brandt publishing house, which was founded in 1906, was based in Ebenhausen. Since 2010 he has handed over his book program to the CH Beck publishing house.

In Ebenhausen, the former post office is particularly worth mentioning as a sight, as is the Gasthof zur Post , which is said to have been where Goethe stayed on his trip to Italy.
