Eberhard Günther (entrepreneur)

Eberhard Günther (born May 9, 1945 in Annaberg ; † July 9, 2015 in London ) was a German entrepreneur. He was the managing director of Foron GmbH, where the first CFC- free refrigerator was developed.

Life

In cooperation with the environmental organization led by Günther Foron Hausgeräte GmbH developed Greenpeace the first refrigerator without ozone-damaging CFCs or climate-damaging HFCs . Instead, the so-called Dortmund mixture developed by Harry Rosin , among others, was used. In 1993 Foron was the first recipient of the German Environment Prize from the German Federal Environment Foundation .

After Foron went bankrupt , Eberhard Günther founded Günther engineering GmbH in 1997.

With the prize money from the German Environment Prize of the DBU from 1993, Günther initiated the Foron Foundation “Besser Leben”, which organizes practical seminars for students at German universities in the fields of refrigeration and thermodynamics.
