Heinrich Bottermann

Heinrich Bottermann (born October 24, 1955 in Neukirchen-Vluyn ) is a German veterinarian and ministerial official ( CDU ). Since June 30, 2017 he has been State Secretary in the Ministry for the Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Life

After graduating from high school (1975), Bottermann began studying veterinary medicine , which he completed from 1976 to 1981 at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 1983 he was at the Hannover Veterinary College Foundation to Dr. med. vet. PhD . From 1985 to 1990 he was a civil servant veterinarian in the Borken district before becoming head of department at the Senator for Health of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . In 1993 he moved to the Federal Ministry of Health as Head of Division, and in 1995 he became Head of Division for Animal Welfare and Veterinary Medicinal Products in the Ministry for the Environment and Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . He worked there until 2007, from 2003 and 2006 he also held the functions of head of the State Office for the Food Industry and Hunting North Rhine-Westphalia and the deputy head of the department for agriculture in his ministry. In 2007 Bottermann became President of the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection in North Rhine-Westphalia and held this post until he was appointed Secretary General of the German Federal Environment Foundation in Osnabrück (2013).

On June 30, 2017, Heinrich Bottermann was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry for the Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the formation of the Laschet Cabinet by Minister Christina Schulze Föcking .
