Eberhard Harms (born March 25, 1945 ) is a former German football player who was active between 1968 and 1973 for 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig and BSG Chemie Leipzig in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football .

Athletic career

Until 1968 Eberhard Harms played in the company sports community (BSG) Lokomotive Ost Leipzig , most recently in the third-class district league Leipzig . At the beginning of the 1968/69 season he moved to the Leipzig top club 1. FC Lokomotive. There he was mainly used in the 2nd team in the district league. His only league appearance was on matchday 12, when he was substituted on for defender Jürgen Czieschowitz in the 77th minute . He was also used in the two trade fair cup games against Hibernian Edinburgh (1: 3, 0: 1) once over 90 and once over 15 minutes. At the end of the season, 1. FC Lok had to relegate to the GDR league . There Harms was only involved in the immediate return to the league with a league assignment. Nevertheless, he was nominated for the 1970/71 season as a defender for the top division squad. But he was only used once on the 11th league match day as a striker and otherwise played with Lok II again in the district league.

For the 1971/72 season Harms moved within Leipzig to the newly promoted GDR league BSG Lok Ost . There he was a regular player from the start, played all 20 league games and scored his only goal of his career in the higher leagues. But he could not prevent the immediate relegation of his team.

After relegation, Herms made another change and joined the upper division chemistry Leipzig, promoted from the GDR league. Although he was accepted into the top division squad in 1972/73, he only played a role as a reserve player. In his seven irregular league appearances, he was five times in different positions in the starting eleven. In addition, he was called up in the three GDR Cup games (2nd main round, round of 16). Also for the season 1973/74 Harms was nominated again for the league team, but did not play a single game. Instead, he was used in the district league team of BSG Chemie, where he distinguished himself with three goals in the competitive games. The league team rose after the season in the GDR league. In 1974/75 Harms only completed the cup game of the second main round with the first team and played in the district league until October 1974, after which he left the BSG Chemie Leipzig. As a 29-year-old he did not return to higher-class football, where he had completed nine major league and 21 GDR league games within seven years.
