Jürgen Czieschowitz

Jürgen (Jerzy) Czieschowitz (born January 10, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1960s and 1970s he was active for 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Jürgen Czieschowitz came to his first league assignment in the 1967/68 season. In the match on the 15th match day between FC Karl-Marx-Stadt and 1. FC Lok (0-0), he was called up to represent the standard defender Peter Giessner . It stayed with this only league game, but before that Czieschowitz had already been used as a substitute for striker Henning Frenzel in the game of the 2nd round of the Messestädte Cup 1. FC Lok - FK Vojvodina Novi Sad (0: 2) . For the 1968/69 season Czieschowitz appeared as a defender in the officially published player line-up of the first division team of 1. FC Lok. During the season he was mainly used in midfield, initially only sporadically in the first half of the season, then he played all the games in the second half of the season and made a total of 20 games. On the 23rd league matchday he scored the only league goal of his career in the home game against Wismut Aue with the equalizer to make it 1-1. 1. FC Lok played in the trade fair cup again this season. Czieschowitz played another game in the 2nd round, this time against Hibernian Edinburgh . In the 0-1 home lower league, with which Leipzig was eliminated from the competition, Czieschowitz was used in defense.

At the end of the season, Lok Leipzig had to relegate from the league. In the GDR league season 1969/70 Czieschowitz played 14 of the 30 played point games, scored one goal and thus helped his team to return to the league immediately. For the league season 1970/71 he was nominated again for the first team, but he was no longer used because he was drafted in November 1970 for an 18-month military service in the National People's Army . During this time he was able to continue playing soccer in the fourth class district class with the army sports community Vorwärts in Bestensee .

After his discharge from the army, Czieschowitz returned to 1. FC Lok. In the season 1972/73 he played the first league game in the league, but then he was only used in the 2nd team that had just been promoted to the GDR league. There he completed 20 of the 22 league games and scored one goal. 1973/74 he was only active in the 2nd team, this time played 18 games, but remained goalless.

In the summer of 1974 Czieschowitz left 1. FC Lok Leipzig, but stayed in Leipzig and joined the company sports community (BSG) Turbine. There he let his career end in the district class, in which he had completed a total of 74 games and scored three goals in the Oberliga and DDR-Liga.
