Eberhard Röhner (born February 26, 1929 in Brünlos , Erzgebirge ) is a former university lecturer and chair at the party college of the Central Committee of the SED "Karl Marx" , professor of theory and history of literature, teacher of German and foreign languages.

Life

Röhner attended secondary school (as a "working class child") and graduated from high school in 1947. He immediately became a new teacher and headmaster of a country school. In 1952 he became district school inspector in Dresden and later (1955) deputy head of the Institute for Teacher Training in Radebeul. From 1954 to 1962 he completed a distance learning course in German at the Pedagogical University in Potsdam. Finally, in 1958, he was delegated to the Beijing Foreign Language Institute for three years. Returning to the GDR in 1960, he worked until 1962 in Leipzig at the Pedagogical Institute as a lecturer at the Pedagogical Institute in Leipzig with a professorship in German and then began an apprenticeship at the Institute for Social Sciences in Berlin, completing his doctorate with a thesis on contemporary German literature. The topic of his doctoral thesis was worker figures in German literature .

From 1966 to 1990 he worked as a senior assistant, university lecturer and head of department at the party college "Karl Marx" and was professor of theory and history of literature. He edited several publications in the course of his activity. He led courses for newcomers to tourism. In 1991 he finally retired.

Eberhard Röhner was a member of the German Writers' Association and maintained regular contact with writers such as Stephan Hermlin , Erik Neutsch and Hermann Kant . He also had a good relationship with Christa Wolf until shortly before her death on December 1, 2011 .

Röhner is a widower and has one son.
