Eberhard Schumm (born November 28, 1943 ) is a former German soccer player. In 1963 he played for SC Turbine Erfurt in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . He is also a ten-time GDR junior national player.

Athletic career

As a player in SC Turbine Erfurt, Eberhard Schumm was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team in 1961 . From January 1961 to May 1962 he played ten international matches with the junior team, in which he was called up as a defender.

In the 1962/63 season Schumm made his debut in the GDR league at Turbine Erfurt when he represented the non-operational right-back Klaus Schwanke on the 18th and 19th matchdays . Before he appeared again in the 1st team, Schumm played in the turbine reserve until 1964. After relegation from the league, Erfurt played in the second-rate GDR league in 1964/65 , where Schumm was used in three point games. Turbine Erfurt II had become the upper league reserve team, which was incorporated into the third-class district league Erfurt . When SC Turbine was back in the league in 1965/66, Schumm was reported for the 1st team, but did not play a league game. At the beginning of 1966 the football section of the sports club was spun off as an independent FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt. In 1967 Schumm rose to the GDR League with the 2nd team from the district league. In the league seasons 1967/68 and 1968/69 he belonged to the player base with 28 appearances each in 30 point games played.

When in 1969 Rot-Weiß II had to relegate from the GDR league again, Schumm joined the GDR league club Kali Werra Tiefenort . There, too, he won a regular place in the 1969/70 season. When he could only be used in seven league games in 1970/71, he ended his career in higher-class football after the season.
