Eberhard Trommer (born September 14, 1939 ) is a former German football player who was active in the 1960s for SC Einheit Dresden and BSG Wismut Gera in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

At the age of 19, Eberhard Trommer played his first games in higher-class football in the 1960 season with the GDR upper division club SC Einheit Dresden. In his ten league games he was in the starting line-up five times, only four times he played the entire game. Called up as a striker, he scored four goals. In the following season, GDR football was switched back to the summer-spring game rhythm after five seasons, and 39 games were played in the Oberliga. Trommer played as a left winger for 90 minutes on the first match day, but was then ousted as a regular by Peter Tempel . It was only when Tempel was out for a long time in the second third of the season that Trommer played another ten games as a left attacker. In total, he played 13 times in the league in 1961/62 and scored two goals. The SC unit had to relegate from the league after this season. In the second-rate 1st GDR league , Trommer was only used three times in 26 games. Subsequently, Trommer did not appear in the GDR-wide leagues until 1965.

In the 1965/66 season, Trommer was part of the army sports association ASG Vorwärts Leipzig , which was represented in the GDR league. Of the 30 league games played, Trommer played 22 games in which he was mainly called up on his regular position as a left winger and scored five hits.

1966/67 Trommer returned to the league, now playing for the company sports community (BSG) Wismut Gera. In the upper league promoted team he was used 16 times in changing attacking positions in the 26 games. He scored two goals. The Gera upper division newcomer did not manage to keep the class and then went back to the GDR league. There Trommer played five seasons for Wismut Gera until 1972, in which he always had a regular place in the team. In the 142 league games during this period, he was used 115 times and was one of the top scorers with 24 goals in each season. In the summer of 1972 Trommer ended his career as a competitive athlete. As a recreational footballer, he still played for the 2nd team of Wismut Gera in the third-rate district league and helped her in 1973 to the district championship.
