The nature reserve Echinger Lohe is located in the Munich gravel plain in the area of the municipality of Eching in the district of Freising . It has a size of 23.8  hectares , is registered under NSG-00044.01 and has existed as a nature reserve since 1951. The area was designated as a natural forest reserve in 1978 .

It is a species-rich mixed forest of oak , hornbeam , elm , ash and maple ; sloe hedges at the edge of the forest . Many rare and protected plant and animal species have a habitat here. The Echinger Lohe was once part of a wide forest area between heathland and moss landscape. The forest was preserved because it was owned by the state; Forestry is prohibited in this protected area. Originally it was a Hudewald , in which cattle and pigs were driven to forage.

The Garchinger Heide nature reserve joins just under half a kilometer in a south-easterly direction (the nature reserve itself, additional expansion and buffer areas); A biotope network is sought.
