description

Echinopsis boyuibensis grows individually. The depressed spherical to spherical, fresh green shoots reach a diameter of 5 to 12 centimeters. There are ten to twelve (rarely up to 13) very sharp-edged ribs that are hardly notched. The areoles on it are 1 to 2 centimeters apart. Central spines are usually not developed. Sometimes, however, there is a single, strongly curved central spine that is usually slightly hooked at the tip and is 2 to 4 centimeters long. The two to six radial spines are curved and 0.7 to 2 inches long. The longest of them has a somewhat hooked tip.

The tubular, funnel-shaped flowers appear on the shoot shoulder and open at night. They are up to eight inches long. The somewhat elongated fruits are somewhat narrowed at both ends.

Distribution and systematics

Echinopsis boyuibensis is widespread in the Bolivian Department of Santa Cruz .

The first description by Friedrich Ritter was published in 1965. A nomenclature synonym is Pseudolobivia boyuibensis (F.Ritter) Backeb. (1966).
