The Kleinbracher Echo .

Echo , located in Kleinbrach , a district of the Bavarian spa town Bad Kissingen in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , is a tunnel mouth that was created in connection with the healing of water in the neighboring community of Hausen (now also a district of Bad Kissingen).

The tunnel mouth, known as an echo because of its sound effect, is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under the number D-6-72-114-383 .

history

Channel remnants in front of the echo .

The echo is within the Saale-loop on which the former now existing only in remnants channel, called Gefluter , from the weir in small fallow for Schönborn bubble in Hausen led past. The echo comes from an attempt in 1846 to create a tunnel in the ridge; this should have replaced the circumferential canal and shortened the distance to be covered by the water by 1.5 kilometers. In 1843, the “Plan en brouillon” was a sketch of the planned tunnel construction. The colored original of this sketch is in the collections of the "Historical Association" founded in 1831 at the suggestion of King Ludwig I in the Würzburg State Archives . Remnants of the former canal are still present in the area, including before the Echo .

For a long time it was assumed that the tunnel project had failed due to the hard rock due to the technical possibilities at the time. District home nurse Werner Eberth suspects, however, that in truth financial problems were decisive. Although there is no concrete evidence of a lack of financial resources for the construction of a tunnel penetration, the state of the art at the time allowed for more demanding projects. At Eberth's suggestion, the information board on the Echo was changed accordingly in March 2011 . The old plaque also falsely claimed that the canal was created after the tunnel was cut.
