Weir system in Kleinbrach.

The weir system in Kleinbrach , a district of the Bavarian spa town Bad Kissingen in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , was used to pump healing water in the neighboring community of Hausen (now also a district of Bad Kissingen).

The weir system is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under the number D-6-72-114-206 .

history

The original weir was built in 1764 under Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim . It served to supply the water wheels of the Schönbornsprudels in Hausen .

The water flowed from the Kleinbrach weir system to the Hausener Schönbornsprudel in a canal several kilometers long, also created in the 18th century . Since the canal led around the loop of the Franconian Saale located there , the construction of a tunnel was started in 1846, which would have shortened the course of the canal by 1.5 kilometers. However, the project probably failed for financial reasons. The tunnel penetration, the so-called echo , is still there.

Two trough bridges belonged to the floodplain , one of which belonged to Kleinbrach and the other crossed the Nudelbach in Hausen. After the floodplain was torn away in a heavy ice drift in 1946, it was scrapped.

From the original system of the weir are the resulting 1770 fortified house, a storey Halbwalmdachbau , as well as the neighboring house, into half-timbered held Satteldachbau , survived.

In connection with the development of the Luitpoldsprudel located in the neighboring community of Großenbrach (today part of Bad Bocklet ) from 1906 to 1908, the Kleinbracher weir was replaced by the current system in 1908. Since 1908, the weir system has supplied the water energy for the Luitpoldsprudel and, through the installation of a turbine (possibly a Kaplan turbine ), the electricity for the Sprudel pumping station.

After a diver had an accident in the weir system in June 1994, the weir was constantly drawn. The water power of the weir system is no longer used today.

In 2012, the weir system was renovated, as part of which the roller mill was repaired and the metal and wood footbridge was completely renewed.
