Eckart Menzler-Trott

Eckart Menzler-Trott (born 1. June 1953 ; died 17th January 2017 in Munich ) was a German author, biographer Gerhard Gentzen and an expert in call centers - Marketing . He has also written critical and narrative articles that have appeared in TransAtlantik , Der Bote and FORVM , among others .

Life

Menzler studied mathematics and philosophy in Berlin , Munich and Frankfurt am Main from 1974 to 1980 and then worked as an advertising manager, editor, freelance journalist and writer. From 1990 he worked for various companies in the field of call center management, from 1999 he was managing director of a company consulting company in Freising.

In 2001 Menzler's biography of the mathematician and logician Gerhard Gentzen was published. In addition to the life of Gentzen, the subject was the fate of mathematical logic in Germany under the rule of the National Socialists, who sought to establish “ German mathematics ”. In 2007 an English adaptation of the biography of Craig Smorynski and Edward Griffor was published by the American Mathematical Society .

From 1981 he published the magazine Katabole together with Heike Maas , but it had to be discontinued after the second issue. From 2006 to 2010 he co-edited the online magazine Diadiss with Bernhard Raestrup and Beatrix Woyth. Magazine for culture, science and society .

On March 17, 2017, he was buried anonymously on the Sonnenbichl meadow in Lippertskirchen near Bad Feilnbach .
