Eclipse is a Swedish rock band that was formed in 1999. The Swedish preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest the Melodifestivalen 2016 , the band with the song reached Runaways the semifinals. In 2019 the band will celebrate their debut at Wacken Open Air .

history

The group was founded in 1999 around singer / guitarist / bassist Erik Mårtensson and drummer / keyboardist Anders Berlin in Stockholm . Together with guitarist Magnus Henriksson they received a recording contract with the English label Z Records, where their debut album The Truth and a Little More was released in 2001 . After switching to the Italian record company Frontiers Records, the albums Second to None (2004) and Are You Ready to Rock (2008) were released. At the same time Erik Mårtensson wrote most of the songs for his side project WET , which consists of members of the bands Work of Art (W), Eclipse (E) and Talisman (T). The self-titled debut was released in 2009 and received a lot of attention from fans of melodic hard rock and in the field of AOR radio format.

In 2012 the band released Bleed & Scream . The title track was also released as a single and with it the band's first music video. The album reached number 44 on the Swedish album chart Sverigetopplistan .

The fifth album was released in February 2015 and was called Armageddonize . It debuted at number 49 on the Swedish album charts. In November 2015 it was announced that Eclipse would take part in the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest Melodifestivalen 2016 . With the song Runaways written by Erik Mårtensson they reached the semi-finals.

In March 2017, the album Monumentum was released , which was presented on the first day of the Frontiers Rock Festival IV in Trezzo (Milano) and was followed by a tour through nine countries.

In August 2019 the band performed for the first time at the Wacken Open Air . Earlier in July, the new single of the band was United have been published.
