Ede Tomori

Ede Ignác Tomori (born April 28, 1920 in Dudeştii Noi , Romania ; † December 30, 1997 in Budapest , Hungary ) was a Hungarian photographer .

life and work

Ede Tomori began his career as a photographer in 1952 at the Amateur Photo Club in Budapest. In 1957 he held the post of secretary there, in 1960 he became general secretary, and in 1976 president of the association.

Between 1957 and 1960 he was the full-time secretary of the Association of Hungarian Photographers with the task of promoting and supporting the formation and organization of photography associations nationwide. From 1967 on he was a delegate of the association at the Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique in Paris .

In 1961 he worked for the state travel agency IBUSZ as a photographer for tourism catalogs , calendars and posters. Between 1967 and 1971 he worked as a permanent employee of the state-owned FŐFOTÓ . From 1971 he worked there as a freelancer.

He participated regularly and successfully in international exhibitions with his travel photographs, commercial photographs and still lifes .

His 1956 photographs of the Hungarian popular uprising were exhibited at the American University Museum, Katzen Arts Center, Washington DC in 2006 .

More of his works can be seen since 1967 in the Hungarian Museum of Photography in Kecskemét .
