Noble seat Katzbrenning (today a farm)

The noble seat Katzbrenning is located in the district Katzbrenning of the municipality Hofkirchen im Mühlkreis in the Rohrbach district of Upper Austria .

history

Here was the headquarters of the Katzprenner. The Katzbrenner were Passauese service men and come from Bavaria. It is not known when this family came to the Mühlviertel . An Otto Katzbrenner appears as a witness in 1150 in a Passau document. In 1376 Ulrich Katzbrenner was a nurse at Schaumburg . The Katzbrenner inspected the Königshube in the parish of Natternbach in 1455 . In 1439 an Ulrich der Katzprenner was called to Katzprenning. Ulrich Katzbrenner married Barbara, the daughter of Siegmund, the last Chelzen (1387–1410), whose property was in the Kirchberg parish above the Danube . However, he must have sold the Katzbrenning fief soon afterwards, because in 1443 Agnes, Hans Neidtegger's widow, sold it again to Mett Oeder, who exchanged it for another property in 1455 for Stephan and Ursula Kraft zu Marsbach . In 1466 Ursula, daughter of Simon Kaplan and wife of Steffan Kraft, exchanged her seat in Kaczprenning with Martin Öder for a knightly fiefdom in Panholz.

In the 17th century we find the Katzbrennerhof owned by the Tattenbäcker zu Schloss Freizell , who used it as a Meierhof . The farm was then bequeathed to a farmer in 1661.

Baroque stone portal

The once brick floor was integrated into the Katzbrenner farmhouse. However, it was likely to have been removed during renovation work, and there is no longer any memory of it among the residents. At the back there is still a beautifully crafted baroque stone portal.
