The Edesseos ( Greek Εδεσσαίος ( m. Sg. )) Is a river in the Greek region of Central Macedonia . It is known for its waterfalls ⊙ , an attraction of the Edessa municipality . The Edesseos rises on Mount Voras , north of Lake Vegoritida and flows from there in an easterly direction. It forms the small gorge known as the Edessa Gorge (στενά της Έδεσσας). Further to the east, it feeds the Agras hydroelectric power station and then enters the area of the city of Edessa , through which it flows. At the exit of the city, the river then forms the well-known waterfalls. The Karanos (Κάρανος) has a height of 70 m and is the highest waterfall in Greece. A few kilometers to the east, the river joins the Moglenitsas in an artificially created river bed , which eventually feeds its water to the Aliakmonas . The river has a length of 29 km.
