Administrative division
Recognized as the rural community of Vertekop (Κοινότητα Βερτεκόπ Kinotita Vertekop ) in 1918 and expanded by incorporations in 1922, the name was changed to Skydra in 1926. The rural community was changed several times by area corrections until 1958. The amalgamation with six other rural communities and the elevation of Skydras to a municipality followed in 1989. As part of the municipal reform in 1997 , the incorporation of another five rural communities took place. On the occasion of the administrative reform in 2010 , Skydra was merged with Meniida to form the new municipality of Skydra. The previous municipalities have since had the status of municipal districts and are further subdivided into the municipality of Skydra as the administrative seat and into 16 local communities.
