Nea Zichni ( Greek Νέα Ζίχνη ( f. Sg. )) Has been a municipality in the northern Greek region of Central Macedonia since 2011 . Parish is divided into two parish districts. The administrative seat is Nea Zichni .

The municipality of Nea Zichni covers an area of ​​321.482 km² in the east of the Central Macedonia region on the border with the East Macedonia and Thrace region . Emmanouil Pappas in the west, Visaltia in the south and Amfipoli in the east.

Administrative division

The municipality was formed in 2010 after the administrative reform in 2010 from the merger of Alistrati and Nea Zichni . The administrative seat of the municipality is Nea Zichni . The former municipalities have since formed the two municipal districts. The community is divided into 2 city districts and 18 local communities.

Nea Zichni is on the Thessaloniki – Alexandroupoli railway line . During the First World War , the terminus of the Perivolaki – Nea Zichini railway line , a 600-mm-gauge field railway that the British military had built in the hinterland of the Salonika Front , was located here for a short time. In 1938 a 25 km branch line was opened from the Nea Zichni train station to the port of Amfipoli , but it has now been closed .
