Edgar Katzenstein (born November 26, 1879 in Lisbon , Portugal , † July 17, 1953 in Hamburg ) was a German rower .

biography

At the Olympic Games in 1900 , the first Olympic rowing competitions were held on the Seine in Paris. The Germania Ruder-Club from Hamburg sent an eight, the crew made up Gustav Goßler , Oskar Goßler , Ernst Jencquel , Theodor Laurezzari , Waldemar Tietgens , Arthur Warncke , Edgar Katzenstein and his brother Walther Katzenstein , as well as Alexander Gleichmann von Oven as helmsman. The crew reached the final, for this run Oven's helmsman was replaced by a younger and 45 pound lighter stranger. The German eighth finished the race last and thus finished fourth.
