Edgar Knobloch

Edgar Knobloch (* 1968 in Bad Frankenhausen ) is a contemporary German artist . He has lived and worked in Leipzig since 1998 .

Life

He studied from 1990 to 1997 at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle . Initially enrolled in industrial design, he switched to the graphics class under Prof. Thomas Rug in 1992. Supervised by Prof. Thomas Rug, Prof. Otto Möhwald, Walter Libuda (Berlin) and Dr. Peter Guth (Leipzig) graduated there in 1997 with large-format drawings, which were exhibited in the Moritzburg Foundation, State Art Museum Saxony-Anhalt and awarded the ars halensis, the Dresdner Bank art prize.

Study visits took him to the Pyrenees, the French Massif Central, the French Jura, the Atlantic coast of Brittany, the Swiss Grisons, London, Paris, Ghent and Naples.

Edgar Knobloch was always active as a teacher, accompanying his own work, so u. a. from 2001 to 2007 as a scientific and artistic employee in the graphics class at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein. He has been teaching at the Leipzig School of Design since 2011.

His works, in addition to drawings, painting and photography, are in private and public collections such as the art collection of the German Bundestag , the Kupferstichkabinett Dresden , the Kupferstichkabinett Schwerin , the graphic collections of the Moritzburg Halle / S. Foundation, the art collections of the Sparkassen Leipzig and Nordhausen , the Meyenburg-Museum Nordhausen, the Stadtwerke Halle / S. as well as the collections of Vattenfall Europe AG , Berlin and Dresdner Bank AG , Hamburg.

He was able to realize extensive art-in-building projects for the Stadtwerke in Halle, the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig (with Antje Kolm) and the Justice Center in Meiningen (with Antje Kolm and Gero Künzel).
