Edgar Kurz (poet)

Konrad Edgar Kurz (born January 16, 1853 in Stuttgart , † April 27, 1904 in Florence , Italy ) was a German poet and doctor .

life and work

Konrad Edgar Kurz was born in Stuttgart in 1853 as the first of five children of the writer Hermann Kurz . After studying medicine and obtaining his doctorate in Tübingen in 1874, he trained as a gynecologist with Johann von Säxinger . Following his appointment as a doctor, he settled in Tuscany in 1877 . There he founded a surgical outpatient clinic with Vanzetti and worked as a general surgeon and gynecologist in Florence . During his lifetime he also followed the family tradition and wrote numerous poems in addition to his work.

Posthumously in 1904 the two volumes of poetry, Folksongs from Toscana and Poems , were published by his sister, the writer and poet Isolde Kurz , who was just under a year younger . A third volume of poetry was published in 2019 by Martin Werhand Verlag under the title Heidenglaube - 50 Timeless Poems .
