Edgewood is a city in eastern Texas , USA , about 60 km east of Dallas . Edgewood is located in Van Zandt County and covers an area of 3.5 km 2 .
The population was 1,451 in July 2005. Of these, 609 (45.2%) were male and 739 (54.8%) were female. The majority of the population is white (85.4%); 8.5% are African American. The remaining 6.1% are made up of Mexicans (4.5%), Indians (1.3%) or people of mixed origins (4%).

Sports
Edgewood has an elementary school with 213 students, a middle school with 190 and a high school with 300 students. The school's golf team (the Bulldogs ) won the State Championship in 2006 and 2007 . Other sports teams have also been successful. The "Dogs" basketball team won the 1989 State Championship. Jay Jameson himself was still active on the 1989 basketball team. Today he is the head coach of the basketball team. This year volleyball has made it to the play-offs for the dog-girls and is playing for the most important title for American high school volleyball players.
High school band
The Edgewood High School mighty Bulldog band is led by Scott Janzen. The son of the well-known Eldon Janzen, the longtime band director of the Arkansaw Razoback Marching Band .
