Edis Tatli (* 13. August 1987 in Prizren , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Finnish professional boxer Kosovan origin and two-time EBU European champion in the lightweight .

Amateur career

Edis Tatli played his first amateur fight in 2001 in Turku, Finland . In 2004 and 2005 he was Finnish champion, won the Nordic Junior Championships in Sweden in 2004 and participated in the 2005 European Junior Championships in Estonia .

Professional career

In 2007 he played his first professional fight in Helsinki . After 18 wins in a row, he defeated the Italian Paolo Gassani in December 2012 in the fight for the EBU's EU lightweight title. In his next fight in March 2013, he also defeated the Spaniard Felix Lora and became the intercontinental champion of the WBA . He was able to defend the title twice, including in December 2013 against Mzonke Fana .

On September 20, 2014, he boxed in Helsinki for the WBA lightweight world title, but lost the judges' majority decision against the Cuban title holder Richard Abril .

On April 25, 2015, he beat the French Yvan Mendy and won the vacant EBU European lightweight title. In 2016 he defended the title against Massimiliano Ballisai, Cristian Morales and Manuel Lancia. In May 2017 he lost the belt to Francesco Patera by a narrow point defeat, but won the title back in the rematch in December 2017. He won a title defense on August 11, 2018 against Frank Urquiaga.

On April 20, 2019, he lost in New York City by knockout in the fifth round against Teófimo López .
