Edistus
Edistus (also: Aristus , Orestes or Horestes ; † allegedly October 12, 60 in Rome ) was a legendary Christian martyr and saint .
The Passio of Edistus dates from the 5th or 6th century. Various legends about Edistus were collected in it. There his young wife Thermantia, his daughter Christina, his maid Victoria and his priest Priscus are named as his companions. The martyrdom of Edistus is placed in the time of the emperor Nero . In the time of Pope Gregory the Great , there was a monastery dedicated to Edistus near the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls , in which the alleged bones of the saint were venerated as relics from the 7th century.
