Edit Angold

Edit Angold (born September 1, 1895 in Berlin - † October 3, 1971 in Los Angeles , California ; born Edit Goldstandt ) was a German actress .

Life

Edit Angold grew up in Geneva and, after completing her acting training, received her first engagement in 1917 on the city stages in Lodz, which was occupied by German troops at the time . From 1918 to 1920 she played in Rostock and from 1920 in Berlin at the Neues Volkstheater in Köpenicker Strasse, where she worked under the theater director Erwin Piscator . Since 1924 she has also appeared repeatedly in German-language plays in New York . After 1931 she received no stage engagement in Germany, and so she finally settled in New York in 1932.

From 1940 Angold lived in Los Angeles and then worked for many years in small roles in Hollywood productions. Repeatedly she played German-speaking foreigners. She also worked for radio and television.
