Edit Bauer (born August 30, 1946 in Šamorín , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak politician of Hungarian origin and a member of the European Parliament of the Party of the Hungarian Commune (SMK-MKP), part of the European People's Party and sits on the Committee for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and on the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality .

Bauer is a substitute on the Employment and Social Affairs Committee and a member of the delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

Edit Bauer began her training in 1968 at the University of Economics in Bratislava , after twelve years she moved to the Slovak Academy of Sciences , where she did her doctorate.

Career

The women's rights activist was a member of the Slovak Cooperative Committee from 1968 to 1969. She then worked at the Research Institute for Living Standards until 1984. After that, Bauer worked for six years at the Research Institute for Labor and Social Affairs. From 1990 to 1998 she worked part-time at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, at the same time she was a member of the committee, 'Együttélés' (Coexistence). In 1990 she began her political career by being a member of parliament until 1992. In 1990 she was elected chairman of the Scientific Subcommittee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. She held this office until 1998. Bauer has been Vice-Chairwoman with responsibility for social policy of the SMK-MKP party since 1998. From that year to 2002, the politician was Undersecretary in the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family Affairs. In 2000 she was elected Vice President of the 88th session of the ILO . From 2002 to 2004 she was again a member of Parliament - the National Council of the Slovak Republic. She was also a member of the European Integration Committee and the Slovak delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe . Edit Bauer was an observer at the European Parliament from 2003 to 2004 .
