Edith Haller (born April 25, 1972 in Meran ) is an Italian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

The South Tyrolean received her vocal training at the Mozarteum . She lived in the student dormitory in Salzburg , where she directed the student choir. Edith Haller graduated with a diploma in solo singing and a Magister Artium in opera singing with distinction. Engagements at the music stages in Salzburg, Prague and Ljubljana followed. From 2002 to 2005 the soprano was a member of the ensemble at the St. Gallen Theater . She then moved to the State Theater in Karlsruhe , where the artist quickly became a crowd favorite and a “star soprano”. Edith Haller received great recognition, well beyond the audience of the Badisches Staatstheater, for her portrayal of Euryanthe in the rarely performed opera by Carl Maria von Weber . The press wrote:

“Edith Haller in the title role is a real, youthful-dramatic soprano of the special class who leaves nothing to be desired. You can understand that she is a welcome guest in Bayreuth. "

Guest engagements have taken the artist to the Salzburg Festival, the Bavarian State Opera and the opera stages in Antwerp, Graz, Klagenfurt, Hamburg , Cologne, Zurich, London, Vienna, Tokyo, etc. Since 2006, she has been a guest at the Bayreuth Festival . In 2010 the soprano sang Sieglinde in Die Walküre at the Bayreuth Festival . The press wrote about her acclaimed performance:

“The Italian soprano Edith Haller was also celebrated (…) Together with Botha , Haller formed such a powerful Voicesung couple that the Festival has not seen for a long time. The singer has been performing at the festival for years, but so far in smaller roles. In 2010 she can be seen and heard on stage as Sieglinde as Freia, Gutrune and Third Norn. The Italian secured particular sympathy from the audience when, after the first act of 'Valkyrie', she demonstratively thanked the prompter who was hidden from view - not all artists are this size. "

In addition to her stage presence, the artist is active as a lieder and concert singer. Engagements lead her to all major European concert halls.
