Edition Hamouda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Edition Hamouda is a publishing company based in Leipzig . It was founded in January 2006 with the aim of making a contribution to the “cultural dialogue”. Fiction , humanities and cultural history are the focus of the publisher. Original texts in German and translations that are consistent with the publisher's objective are primarily published.

Alignment

Edition Hamouda understands cultural dialogue in two ways. On the one hand, it is a bridge between two cultures that need to be built, and on the other hand, it is the dialogue within a culture that needs to be deepened. Here literary works from forgotten times are to be rediscovered and published. The bestselling author of the 19th century Eugenie Marlitt , the journalist and freedom fighter August Peters or the women's rights activist Luise Büchner are examples of this.

Publishing program

Novels and books for young people by Franjo Terhart , Gisela Karau , Frank Kreisler and Kristin Petrasch as well as nonfiction and specialist books by Georg Schuppener have been published so far. Works by the Tunisian writer Mahmoud Messadi and the Jordanian journalist and novelist Ghalib Halasa form the basis for the first translations.

At the beginning of March 2009, Edition Hamouda included the cultural magazine Liaisons. Magazine for cultural dialogue published for the first time. The magazine wants to promote and intensify the cultural dialogue between the countries of Europe and the Mediterranean countries. Liaisons appears twice a year.
