Ham bags are a classic component of cold platters or cold buffets . They consist of bag-shaped ham slices with a filling.

For traditional preparation, slices of boiled ham are turned into pointed bags and then given a mostly spicy filling. Are known z. B. “Astor ham cones” with a filling of whipped cream flavored with paprika and horseradish and bound with a little gelatine or “Lukullus ham cones” with a filling of foie gras .

In particular, ham bags came (again) in fashion as part of cold platters in the 1950s.
