History and program

In the first few years, Edition Isele primarily published literary books by authors from Freiburg and Constance. In 1988 the collaboration with Martin Walser began , in the course of which more than 15 joint publications were realized. The first book series began in 1989. In 1992, Chelsea Hotel , a cultural magazine, was founded. In 1993 the literary magazine Allmende , edited by Manfred Bosch and others, was added. In 1995 Eva Taubert joined the publishing house. 1996 marked the beginning of an evolving segment of the program “Down Under” with literature from Australia and New Zealand. As the third literary magazine, "V" from Vorarlberg enriched the publishing program in 1999. In 2000, Edition Isele Wolfgang Rohner-Radegast published the avant-garde grand novel Kinderblitz, Jambudvipa , which had previously been rejected by more than 20 German literary publishers.

In addition to volumes of poetry, short stories and novels by authors from all over the German-speaking area, the publisher also publishes literary anthologies on American avant-garde authors, literature from Romania, France and Poland, and literary regions such as Lake Constance and Hegau.

Edition Isele's non-fiction program is devoted to humanities topics from German, English and Romance studies. In addition, audio books and travel books (Japan, New Zealand, USA, Turkey, Marrakech) are published. In 2006 the complete edition of the painter-poet Heinrich Ernst Kromer , edited by Jürgen Glocker and Klaus Isele, began.

Since 2014, most of the publishing activities have been continued under the name "Klaus Isele Editor". 15 book series and two literary magazines are currently being published there.
