Peter Blickle (born September 26, 1961 in Ravensburg ) is a German Germanist , author of fiction and translator.

Life

Blickle grew up in Wilhelmsdorf in Upper Swabia . He studied medicine, German and comparative literature, in particular German literature and ancient languages ​​in the USA, where he received his doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1995 with a thesis on Maria Beig , the five-volume edition of which he co-edited in 2010.

Blickle holds a professorship for German literature and gender and women's studies at the American Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo .

Act

In the mid-1980s, Blickle began to write himself and initially published short stories in American and German literary magazines. In 2002 his first novel Blaulicht im Nebel was published , the background of which is based on the experiences of doctors and paramedics during rescue missions in Upper Swabia.

Blickle is a member of the PEN (Exil-PEN, center for German-speaking authors abroad).
