Edivaldo Martins da Fonseca (born April 13, 1962 in Volta Redonda , Rio de Janeiro ; † January 13, 1993 in Boituva , São Paulo ), usually only abbreviated as Edivaldo , was a Brazilian football player in the position of a striker .

Life

Edivaldo began his professional career in 1982 at Clube Atlético Mineiro , with whom he twice won the state championship of Minas Gerais . He then played for São Paulo FC , with whom he also won the São Paulo state championship twice .

In 1986 Edivaldo played two international matches for the Seleção and was also part of the Brazilian squad at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, but was not used there. He made a third and final international match in 1989.

At the end of 1989 he moved to the Mexican league and won both the championship title and the cup competition with Puebla FC in the 1989/90 season .

In late 1990 Edivaldo returned to Brazil , where he first played for the Palmeiras São Paulo and then returned to Atlético Mineiro. In early 1993 he wanted to play again for CA Taquaritinga , for whom he had already been on loan in 1983. This prevented his early death as a result of a traffic accident on the Castelo Branco road in the municipality of Boituva in the state of São Paulo .
